ロードカーブ（日負荷曲線） （Load curve (daily load curve)）とは

A curve that represents change in the amount of electricity consumed in a day. Consumption fluctuations over the course of a year are sometimes expressed as a monthly average. It is called a load curve because the volume of electricity demand corresponds to a load from the perspective of the grid, which is on the supply-side of electricity.

一日に使われる電力量の変化を表す曲線のことです。一年間の変動を「月平均」で表すこともあります。電気を供給する電力系統側から見て、電力需要の大きさは「負荷」にあたるため、「負荷曲線」と呼ばれています。

電気は時間や季節、地域によって使われ方がさまざまであり、停電を防ぐために、電力会社は電力を安定的に供給する必要があります。そこで、需要の予測を立てるにあたってロードカーブが重要となってきます。電気料金は、電気を使用する側の負荷の割合がどれぐらいか（使用量が均一か）によって電気料金が変動するため、電気料金の決定にもロードカーブが使われます。
